Disabled War Veteran's World Record Attempt On TGA Mobility Scooter

Andy McIntosh, 42 from Strathaven near Glasgow, is a disabled Army Corporal who is currently attempting, on a TGA Breeze mobility scooter,  to beat the world record for the ‘Fastest journey from John-O’-Groats to Land’s End on an Electric Mobility Vehicle (individual)’.   Originally from Manchester, Andy retired from the Army fully fit to pursue a new career, however in 2008 he discovered he had a very rare and inoperable vascular condition. This means his circulation and mobility is severely restricted, resulting in day-to-day difficulties with independence. Hence Andy and his young family have been supported by several military charity – this world record attempt is raising donations to say thank you for their invaluable assistance. Susan Mallows, 51 from Romford, has  Multiple Sclerosis  (MS) and difficulties walking, however she has been able to continue enjoying shopping and exercising with the assistance of a pioneering new type of TGA mobility scooter. 78 year old Sue Raymond has discovered a 'new lease of life' since discovering her  TGA 'Harley Davidson' style mobility scooter. Sue has always been a fan of the outdoors, and before retiring she was a milkmaid in the farming sector in Surrey. However, following the birth of her three children she gradually started to develop mobility issues. Still keen to live the outdoor life Sue joined the  Disabled Ramblers Association , but found that her mobility scooter at that time struggled with the tight manoeuvering and rocky, off-road tracks. We all have a passion in life and mobility scooter owner, Dean Johnson, has been an avid Formula One fan for many years. He decided to take his love of the sport to another level by customising his TGA Breeze mobility scooter with the official Ferrari Testarossa paintwork and black alloy wheels. Dean, 50, from East Sussex is a positive and lively individual, who has heart disease and type-1 diabetes, and used to be a successful Contracts Manager responsible for 90 staff until he had to take early retirement.  Inheriting his father-in-law's  TGA Breeze S4 mobility scooter  gave Dean a new lease of life, plus a new outlet for his creativity and interest in motorsport. Tom Lackey, 93 from Shirley West Midlands and a TGA Mobility scooter user, will attempt his 31st wing walk in March 2014 from Morocco to the rock of Gibraltar in aid of Cancer Research. Tom Lackey is an inspirational individual who has raised over £1 million for several charities and currently holds nine Guinness World Records relating to aerobatics. When Tom is not flying he remains mobile using a TGA 'Superlight' which is a 3-wheel mobility scooter that can be easily dismantled for transportation in a car. This 4mph  compact model  gives Tom freedom at home to visit the shops and friends as his mobility is restricted due to his age and following a stroke in 2004.
