89-year-old's Mobility Scooter Allows Him To Continue Raising Funds For African Orphanage

Eddie Porter, aged 89 and retired farmer from Great Eccleston, has purchased a funky new TGA mobility scooter so he can continue selling ‘Pilling Potatoes’ to raise money for a Ugandan orphanage. Eddie was originally from County Tyrone in Ireland and before retirement was successful in several careers including dairy farming, building and biscuit making. He met his wife Margaret when he managed a farm in Out Rawcliffe and since retiring they have both kept busy with various activities including selling potatoes. The Porters are friends with a bishop called Patrick from Africa who has visited their church several times. Patrick built and manages a Ugandan orphanage which depends on donations from supporters such as Eddie and Margaret. Due to walking difficulties Eddie needed a way to continue selling his potatoes around the village which led to purchase of a   TGA Ibex   mobility scooter. Despite living with breathing and walking difficulties, X-box and football fan Dan Trask aged 30 from Somerset, has discovered how to remain an active cool Dad thanks to a trendy TGA Minimo  mobility scooter. Dan has two young daughters aged 3 and 7 and lives with his partner in scenic Timberscombe, near Minehead. Dan was born with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia , chronic airflow obstruction and exercise induced Hypoxia which means he requires ambulatory oxygen to breath. This was the result of his lungs being damaged during his mother’s pregnancy as she had to be treated for Leukaemia. As Dan only has 25% lung function his capacity to walk any distance is limited so to remain mobile he uses a mobility scooter. Before driving a new TGA Minimo Dan owned a different folding scooter however its performance regularly let him down. TGA Mobility's Daniel delivers donation despite charity challenge disaster

Daniel Salter and his employer,  TGA Mobility  based in  Suffolk , have made a second donation to  The J’s Hospice  in Essex despite his charity cycle ride coming to a dramatic end through a burst tyre.   Keen cyclist and runner, Daniel Salter, is an enthusiastic supporter of The J’s Hospice. The charity supports young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families across Essex, in the comfort of their own homes. He works as a Product Consultant for TGA Mobility based in Sudbury which provides quality and reliable  mobility scooters ,  wheelchairs  and  powerpacks across the UK. ​ Daniel, aged 30 from Sudbury, previously completed The J’s Hospice 2016 Chelmsford Marathon so that his employer would donate a lightweight and ergonomic  StrongBack wheelchair  to the charity. Daniel Salter, aged 30 from Sudbury, is taking on his second sporting challenge for  The J’s Hospice  to add a  powerpack  to the charity’s pioneering new folding wheelchair – donated by TGA Mobility. Daniel is a keen cyclist and runner and works as a mobility product consultant for  TGA , the UK-leading mobility scooter and product specialist based in Suffolk. Last year, he signed up for the 2016 Chelmsford Marathon which is organised by The J’s Hospice. Mike graduated from Reading University and served in the Police Force for seven years. In 1990, he was assaulted whilst on duty in Gosport resulting in major injuries to his lower spine. He subsequently underwent several back operations which stabilised his vertebrate for 15 years during which time he could walk again. He returned to higher education and qualified with a degree in Radiography which led to a position at the Conquest Hospital, East Sussex.  Following another seven years in a job he enjoyed, Mike began to feel pain and weakness in his legs again.
